The subject heading reads list an update on Facebook or Google+, its not every day that you hear about a condo building in Minneapolis getting solar panels.  But thats exactly what is going on over at the Lofts on Arts Avenue right off 3rd Ave downtown in the Stevens neighborhood.  The condo owners of the building decided to spring for solar panels which will cover most of the roof of the building.  Doing an improvement of this size is not cheap.  The homeowners association saved quite some time for a major capital improvement like this--and they needed a majority to approve the spending measure.  Tough the panels have not been installed as of yet, (9.20.11), here is the plan:

This is a tower that will be built in downtown Minneapolis in the neighborhood of Loring Park  The past few months have been a flurry of development activity in downtown Minneapolis.  The latest news comes from a developer based out of Chicago who has been responsible for a significant amount of real estate development across the country: Magellan Development. 

  Plans call for 355 units of luxury rentals in a 36 story building that would be glass curtain wall in a sleek shape.  Ammenities would cover the tower such as 24 hour doorman, pool and fitness center. 

  If the developer gets approval from the city which could come in the next few weeks plans would unfold rapidly and initial lease up would start as early as the beginning of 2012.  if all goes according to plan occupancy would start early 2013.

 Minneapolis Riverfront  Kelly Doran earned his stripes as a developer of several well-known local retail projects. But today Doran isn’t shopping for retail deals.

He is cutting a new path as a developer of multifamily residential projects, particularly apartments in southeast Minneapolis near the University of Minnesota campus. Doran says his current development work reflects the state of today’s market.

“You gotta go where you can go,” said Doran, principal with the Bloomington-based Doran Cos.

Now Doran has big plans for a piece of the former Pillsbury A Mill site in Minneapolis, where another developer had once pitched ambitious - but unrealized - condo plans. Doran is planning 375 high-end apartments in two phases.
